What heatsource for plastic sterilite container?
I was just wondering what is the best way to heat a sterilite container? I'd like to use an UTH, but is that safe on plastic? Would it be safe as long as I have a thermostat on it? Can I put 2 different UTHs under there and set them at different temps so he has a cool side and a warm side? How about heat wire? I'd like all your opinions on this. Thank You.

A UTH is probably your best bet for a single tub setup. Any UTH should be used with a thermostat to prevent cooking your snake.

You can setup two UTHs if you want but I don't really think it is necessary unless you live in a very freezing house or something. Start from one and work from there.

So sticking the UTH directly to the bottom of the tub is OK as long as there's a thermostat? I just want to make sure it's not going to melt the plastic or anything, even with a thermostat to control. What are the best UTHs? Are the zoomed UTHs good ones? Thanks for the advice on this!

If it gets hot enough to melt the plastic, it will be hot enough to kill your snake. It's always good to have your thermostat on a back-up thermostat, so if the first one fails, the second one will make sure it doesn't overheat.

I haven't used the Zoomed, but I haven't heard of anyone report that they've had any problems with them.

    Hi.

I use a UTH under my tub, controlled with a rheostat and it has never burned the tub in any way.

I built my rack a month ago so I will be getting a thermostat with flexwatt. It will be much easier to control.

But I agree for a single tub your best bet is to go with the UTH. Just need to control the heat with something.

    Good Luck :)
