    Shedding question
For the last month or so my baby ball python has been going through a terrible shed. Last Tuesday I took her to a reptile business owner who was able to get her eye caps off. After gently removing them I thought "Wheeeew, glad those eye caps are finally gone!" While looking at her "clear eyes" I noticed a slight blue tint to them......I thought you gotta be feaking kidding me......going through this again already?!?!?!?!

The rest of her body looked bright and normal. Today I attempted to feed her. Although she struck she did not eat her dinner. I chalked it up to me moving her into a new enclosure. I thought nothing of it.

A couple of hours later I saw her poke her head out of her hide. On top of her head I saw a loose piece of skin. I thought.......good she is ridding the remainder of her previous skin. Immediately she darted back inside her cave. I removed her hide in an attempt to get that small chunk of skin and what I found I nearly chat myself!

She was going through a shed of her entire body. She was half way through when I noticed her shedding. It was really cool to watch (I know its dumb but I am a first time snake owner). I was PUMPED that she was shedding in one piece!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I recently removed the last piece of dead skin from her enclosure and I noticed that she has a small band of dead skin around her tail (about one inch from the tip of her tail). Do I need to remove this or just not worry about it?

I also noticed on her dead skin that I removed what appeared to be blood near the tail of the dead skin. What is this? Anyone else ever seen anything like this?

    I appreciate all the info!

You do need to remove that encircling old skin off her tail. Take a warm wet face cloth, hold it around the area for a few moments to loosen the skin and then very gently using pressure on the face cloth, remove the tail tail stuck shed.

There are a couple of stickies that should be of help to you....

A small drop or two of blood is often seen around the vent area when a snake sheds.

Sweet! I was concerned about that! Although I did not see any blood on her body I was concerned something was wrong! As for the shed around the end of her tail.....will be gone tomorrow!
