Melamine is a MDF board that is covered in a thin white plastic film. It is readily available at your local lumber yard in 3/4" thick 4x8 sheets.

Many breeders use it because it is easy to keep clean, does not present an opportunity for the animal to get injured by splinters from wood, and resists bacteria growth in the right environment.

I get a 4x8 sheet for $34 at my local home depot, and they will cut it to your dimensions if needed.
Here are 3 melamine racks, one with 41 quarts tubs, one with 6 quarts tubs and 1 with cat litter pans.
