    Problem Feeder
Hey I was wondering if anyone had a BP that refused ASFs because of their preference for rats. I have this strange normal male, Moo, who will not eat unless it is a rat. Downright refuses ASFs...he'll come out, sniff around, and go back in his hide. Come back 3 minutes later with a thawed out rat and he comes out and kills. Weird right? So yeah, does anyone else have a BP that refuses ASFs?

Never tried feeding my BPs ASFs. Your snake probably just prefers eating rats. My Dumeril's boa will eat nothing else besides a live pinkie rat. She refuses f/t, and eating outside of the enclosure. So far, she's been comfortable eating in front of me, and eating when it's light in the room instead of in the dark.

Its just weird, because ASFs are what you use to get a fasting snake back ON feed. This dude is just backwards. None of my snakes but him refuse ASFs. They damn near leap out their tubs with excitement as soon as they catch a whiff.

My spider ball python prefers ASFs. In order to eat the f/t rats, I have to rub them in some 'used' ASF substrate. Then she downs them pretty darn quickly!

My BP Candice will take pretty much anything given to her. She don't care whether is a little warm or really warm, small or big, she'll eat it. Instantly when I put her in her feeding container she knows it's feeding time so she goes on a feeding frenzy until she has at least one f/t mouse. That's how she bit me, she wouldn't get off of my hand and my finger was sticking out. I now feed her two large f/t mice, and the first time I fed her one (2 weeks ago) she went into shed a few days after. My Dumeril's boa is more of a picky girl. She don't like f/t food, she don't like mice, and she doesn't really like being watched when she hunts but now she's getting more comfortable eating in front of people.

I'm saying, if it's causing you a problem, try scenting your feeder ASF on a dead rat to wean him onto ASFs.

Ohh...yeah I dont care that he likes rats over ASFs. I have 60 F/T rats & ASFs that I picked from a local breeder by size, not type. I think I have a couple mice in the mix as well. The thread title is a misnomer, I really was just curious if anybody else had a, as Qetu put it, "simple eater."

Moo is the guy with the money for a Porsche buying a Pinto. Weirdo snake. I guess Im alone for weird snake ehh?
