feedback on T-Rex Cobra Heat Pads

Any feedback on these would be appreciated.

i returned mine...it didnt have the adhesive on it like the zoomed...zoomed is the way to go

Now that you've stuck it somewhere you can't reuse it if need be. They are very hard to get off.

To extend a bit on this most people will leave the adhesive covering in place so that they can move it when it comes time to upgrade the enclosure.

You can also put aluminum foil on the sticky side and then tape it to place.

As for the T-Rex heat pads I have not used them before. Have you considered using flexwatt controlled by a thermostat?

from what i have read and researched they are made of the same materials as flexwatt i havent used either so i dont know how reliable but u can get flexwatt or a ultratherm pad for wayyyy cheaper than what the t-rex would cost.

I've never used them either so this is why I wanted to get some feedback.

Price really isn't in question when what we spend on equipment & enclosures is nominal in comparison to what we have invested in our 'babies' both financially & with our heart. What's paying a few extra bucks when you boil it down to they themselves being priceless?

I wouldn't have stuck the pad on permanently so the fact it is minus the sticky backing isn't a deterrent either. I use foil tape to apply things because I learned early on, set-ups get change around as they grow up & grow out of set-ups.

I'm looking for function & compatibility with various items such as a thermostat. I have seen the pads for sale but not the t-rex thermostat that is suggested. Well not unless I buy from a UK site & even those turned up as not in stock.

I may or maynot use these with my setups but seeing that they are making way into the US market I thought I might see if there was any user feedback on them before venturing out to be a guinea pig myself.

I have four of the t-rex heat pads and I like them. Uncontrolled they can get very hot, the three that I am using at the moment are all on a thermostat. I like that they do not have adhesive attached, I just use aluminum tape along the edges to stick to whereever i want. I've gotten all of mine on ebay, cheaper that way.

Flexwatt w/ a proportional thermostat (Helix, Herpstat) or a non proportional (Johnson, Ranco). www.reptilebasics.com . Rich will hook you up proper!

This was one thing I was not sure of being that they are UK manufactured & sometimes there are small differences in electronics. What thermostat are you using with them?

The Cobras are the same thing as an ultratherm pad. I have both. I bought the Ultratherms from RBI, then saw the T-Rex at a local pet store. Again, same exact product............both manufactured in Scotland...........

A T-Rex cobra (11x17) can be purchased for $23.00. An Ultratherm of the same size can be bought for the exact same price.

I use them in lieu of flexwatt on my Freedom Breeder heat panels. Hooked to a Herpstat, they work great.

No worrying about loose connections, and I can mount the pads to the top of the metal panels (unlike the FW where they are mounted underneath).
