good setup for a single tub?
tomorrow im going out to buy supplys to prepare myself for my first bp. i was wondering how the whole tub setup works.

im only using one, not a rack
im using it because a tank is to large at the moment because of my current home
where would i put the lamp for ambient temps?
how many holes do i need to make for ventalation?

Holes are a trial and error thing. Start off with like 20 holes, and stabilize the habitat by leaving it alone for a little and checking the temps/humidity. Add more holes until you get it right...if you add too many holes, nothing some tape can't cover up. As for a lamp...When I used individual tubs I just used an UTH and that was enough.

Here's what my set up USED to look like...

The ceramic lamp is not turned on, it was just there because I thought I needed it.

ok i see thank you very much. ive got some time before i get my baby so ill do some trial and error stuff. ill go ahead and not buy the lamp yet. i also live in north texas...its pretty hot here and we dont have ac, just fans. (yeah im poor) you think i should get one of those things that turn down the uth? im concerned that it might make it too hot.

Oh absolutely. You definitely need a dimmer for any UTH. If you want a cheap thermostat people here recommend the ZooMed Repti 500R, they sell em at PetCo and Petsmart for like 25 bucks. You definitely dont want to run your UTH's unregulated.

oh yea use a hot glue gun for the holes melts perfect round holes instead of make a mess with a drill. Plus u should connect ur uth to a dimmer like this http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...10000003+90401 they sell white ones so u can mark it but get a digital temp and find out the right temp then mark it but remember to check on it every now and then but so far it works perfect for me

Yeah they do. Appreciate the amazing comment, but all the credit is due to all the members who I learned from. This site is by far the best for information regarding BPs. Just browse through the husbandry section and you should learn all you need to know to keep a healthy and happy snake.

Oh just a little thing. If you need to cover holes up, don't use tape. Just don't use tape in a snake enclosure at all. They could flick their tongue into the hole and..yeah..

I don't think you will need a lamp with a tub. Especially since you don't live in a freezing cold house.

I make vent holes with a soldering iron. I find it works the best :P

There is a way to prevent that. Tear a small square of tape about the size of the hole. Tear another larger piece of tape. Put small piece in center of larger piece, so there is no glue in that spot. Align glueless spot over hole. Voila!
(Just make sure to do this all on the outside of the tub.) :P
