    it definitely appears to be of the same family, but the species i'm familiar with are half the size and don't have these larger mandibles. you could definitely be right on though, i know relatively little about inverts.

    okay, i've id'd this guy as a Dobson's fly... apparently a green morph, which i can't find any info on, but everything else matches - wings, mandibles, size, etc.
