You could probably keep him in the 20 gal for now (how old is he? He does not look very big). A 40+ gal breeder is ok for a full grown Beardie.

    Re: new beardie
The problem with such a big tank for a little Beardie is mainly that they have a hard time finding their food. Maybe you could put a divider in there until he gets a bit bigger.

You're very welcome. Any questions at all, make sure to post on here. Someone will always reply. Btw, I have 3 Beardies and I absolutely adore them. They have so much personality.

Ivy is right; keep him in the 20gal for now, and a 40gal breeder is fine for an adult. However, I have found that beardies appreciate extra room. I have my adult beardie in a 4x2x2' viv, and he uses every inch of it. As long as they can find their way around, the bigger the better with these guys. :)

    Re: new beardie
kind of odd but i went to my local pet store and a 75 gallon is $10 less than the 40 breeder... so i will just get one of them eventually but i was kind of wanting to get another lizard that will be able to stay in the 20 Gallon tank after i transfer my beardie to the bigger one. i don't want anything that can climb the walls of the tank or w/e i was thinking maybe a leopard gecko but they are wayyyyyy ugly and just kind of sit there all day but they seem like the best candidate for now.

any one got any other suggestions ?

also my beardie is being awesome but hes being a little pig he lol lots of crickets. he only eats his veggies when he wakes up right away so i gotta leave them in there over night but he eats the whole plate. and he has been very healthy just wondering he turns darker and lighter sometimes any of you know that that means ?
