    BP poop
What is the deal with BP feces? I have heard people around the forum say it is good to know when they poop or pee but why?

Also, my snake won't number two for ages then suddenly he releases his poo to the world and spreads it all over the tank. One time he was covered in it... :weirdface

Especially after he sheds. But not always.

Ball pythons tend to defecate after a shed, that is not unusual. Many can go weeks without letting one loose, and that is not a bad thing. If he messes himself, just give him a bit of a bath with a couple drops of Listerine to clean him up.

I would assume it's good to know when they defecate so you can clean it up as soon as viably possible. :gj:

I keep track of my snakes poo so I know when to expect the brown package. And if they are't generally consistant then I can start the warm baths or a vet trip to check for problems...

    i keep track of everything
    -feeding or refusals
    -urates/urination
    -defecation
-any unusual behavior (i have a little spot on my charts i can write in stuff)
    -weight

    etc

i just do it because they do everything so infrequently you can forget when the last time you fed was or something. i have everything infront of me with my charts so i can see, at a glance who isn't eating, who was just moved out of quarantine, who peed recently, etc. unlike my cats who need stuff done every day.

it also makes it easy if i have someone come over to watch/check on my snakes when im gone so i know what happened while i was away.

When my baby ball poops its real small. After eating a fuzzy mice I would think it would be a decent size but it looks like poop. And BTW, its okay to put a few drops of listerine on your snake?

My bp hasn't pooped in a while since she went on a hunger strike. But I noticed today she's gone into the blue, so I'm expecting a massive one soon enough.

Original brown Listerine is safe for reptiles.
They talk a lot about it in this thread.

Here are some other reptile related uses for Listerine-
We use it to clean cages and it works great and smells good.
We use it for cleaning the snakes skin when they lay in urine or blood or just to get the smell of food off of them.
We have used it for cleaning rubs or scrapes from escapes/attempts.
We have used it on the thin film on the mouth around lips that goes along with an RI,
when an RI is present we use to clean mucus out of mouth and to keep bacteria from growing in the mouth.
Cleaning a cage after female has laid and to clean the female with to rid them both of the smell of the eggs.
Our big girl took a rabbit and after she had finished she was fixing her jaw and opened real wide we noticed a cut I guess from a rabbit claw; for 5 days I cleaned the cut twice a day on the 7th day she was ready to eat again.
Also it is right up there with alcohol and warm water to make the snake release if it is latched to you and then you can cleanse your wounds afterwards.
