so im switching my baby ball to a sterilite as per advice from some of u fine folks, my question is can i use my zoomed uth without melting the tub? or is there a better option for heating? im pretty straped for cash so the cheaper the better but if i gotta pay ill do it for the well being of my baby. any help is greatly appreciated.

UTH with a tub is fine. You will need a thermostat, a Rheostat or at least a dimmer to control it. Tub maintenance is super easy once you have the temps right.

well she is only like 2 months old so is a 15 qt tub big enough? im pretty sure that was the size i was told. is just a dimmer switch sufficent for a while or should i just cough the dough up an get a ranco t-stat?

That tub size is fine. You can get away with a dimmer for a while if need be. You have to keep an eye on the temps as they will fluctuate with room temps. A thermostat will be your best bet when you can.

Thanks for asking this question. I was just thinking the same thing which is why I came on here to see if there was a Tub Set-up sticky. I'm working on a tub now for an adult Tiger ball who was raised in a tub as a breeder and he just doesn't seem to be handling the space of a 50 gal tank very well. He spends all day in his hides but roams all night long. My logic for the UTH was if i can set the tub outside while it's 90 degrees and not melt in the driveway then my UTH on a thermostat should be fine.... Thanks for the answer...:gj:

That will be great if somebody put stickey for tubs
I'm thinking about moving my 2 balls to the tubs
I'm wanna move next year from Florida to Colorado so I figure it out that moving tuna is easier than moving tanks
So my question is what size of UTH I need for 41 qt ??? And what cheap termostat you can recommended for controling 2-3 tubs

    Re: tub heating?
I use Ranco t-stats and they have a 6 plug power strip attached. It's rated at 1500 watts and most UTH are 12-25 watts. The only problem I could forsee is it only has one temp probe so if the heater it is on fails the t-stat will keep running the other UTH's unchecked...

This is how I set-up my first tub (16q I think).

You could also put two hides in as well and put the water bowl in the middle. I only use one and I use Reptile basics hides for the most part now.

Thats flexwatt with an accurite Thermometer/Hygrometer combo. I also have digital probe thermometers and thats a Ranco Thermostat from RBI.
