Feeding

I was wondering were everyone feeds there boa's. I have been feeding mine in her cage, but now it seems every time i go into the cage to hold her she is in strike mood. Once i get her out she is fine. Is it better to feed her in cage or take her out to a seperate feeding contanier.

I feed mine in their tubs. Faster, less disturbing the snake and no risk of a regurge moving them back into their tubs right after they've eaten. If she is in a strikey mood all the time then handle her more often so she doesn't associate you going in there with food.

I handle her all the time at least once a day. She is fine once i get her out of the tub. No striking its getting her out. Most of the time i got to get my small snake hook stretch her out hand reach in from the back to get her. Any hand movement in front of her she strikes like its food.

I feed in a tub.

I feed my year old boa in a tub for now...and I feed my big girl (8 1/2ft) in her enclosure and never had a problem, will be switching the smaller one over to feeding in her enclosure soon too...much easier.

I feed my anaconda in a different place then her tank, because she will get bigger and I don't want her to acquire any kind of habit. My rufous beaked snake, I feed him in his tank because he's not the type of snake to bite period. Moving them from a tank you feed them in and the tank they live in WILL NOT make them regurge, despite what scottboa says. I do it all the time. If you kept hassling with the snake and the meal was slowing down the snakes movement then they regurge, or when you sit and mess with them after a meal, constantly.

I have smaller boas that I feed in their tubs and I have a larger female that I will take out of her cage for feeding. The small ones will usually be a little agressive after feeding, but they will be fine the next day for holding. I like to feed the larger female out of her cage so she doesn't develop a feeding response and so she doesn't mess up her cage. When the others get larger I will feed them in tubs as well. The tub thing is kind of a personal preference because many people have their own opinion about them.
