Any theorys?

It's funny how 1 clutch of eggs will stay full and plump, while another clutch set up the same way will dimple and cave in a couple of weeks before piping. Any theorys?

From what I've read, the full and plump ones might have too much humidity. The others ones start dimpling due to water loss because of the heat being generated by the babies that are ready to hatch (that's the condesation you might see in the tub). But I did notice that even in the same clutch some would cave in way more than others.

Obviously some differences are going to be caused by differences in humidity.

As far as ones that have the same conditions but still show different amounts of dimpling, my first guess would be the quality of the eggshell, which could influence how much humidity transfers through.

Another possibility would be that they are different on the inside to start out with. Maybe due to differences in diet or genetics or who knows what, some females lay eggs that have a higher % water content to start out with. Those eggs might give off some of their water more easily, while eggs that had a lower % water content would be always trying to suck up more water, due to the properties of osmosis.

I have the eggs set up the same . Amount of moisture and heat. Yet they turn out diffrently
