rat sales.....illegal??

So ive sold some of the extra rats i had from breeding on CL. My sister was talking to my aunt who is a police officer and she says that selling the rats isn't legal.
Im kinda confused because i see people selling them all the time, I've searched a little bit online to see if there are any laws about selling them and i cant find any.

Im not sure if my aunt is confused about a law or if my area has a stupid law on selling the rats.
I live in SE Wis.

I don't have a clue about the laws in your area, but selling them on CL is against the CL rules.

have you ever heard of laws against selling rats... rodents?

ik its against the rules but then again a lot of the posts are of selling animals not rehoming and complaining about what a rehoming fee is and hoow much it should be, the pet rehoming section is basicly a big thread in the CL forum

I've heard of local laws regulating the sale of any living animal.

well hopefully that it is only in the county she works in, which is the next one over.

Selling rodents is not illegal, unless dicated by your city/state/county.

In some provinces in Canada, I believe BC, it is illegal to own any rodentia.

Are you sure your aunt didnt say selling rats on craigslist is illegal or against the rules? Maybe you got it confused with her saying "its illegal to sell them in general" and "your not allowed to sell them on craigslist".... idk.. :) lol

Here is how you can find out.
1. ask your aunt who wrote the law...city county state
2. call the one who she believes wrote the law and ask them if in fact it is true.
3. do not stop there. find out the details of the law. it may be only local species or non-native species are prohibited.

I asked her about it yesterday, in the city she works in there is a resstriction on it. We then went down to the police station on asked around there. There wasn't anything involving rodents that we could find
