On day 53 of my first ever clutch
So.....do you guys snip the eggs on or about day 55 or do you wait until they start piping to snip. Don't want to seem impatient BUT I CAN'T WAIT :). Of course I WILL WAIT if I am causing any danger or stress to the little guys by cutting the eggs. Thanks for your help
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
I personally wait until they start pipping if I decide to cut at all, but you CAN cut starting day 52-55. With that being said, I'd still wait until at least one has pipped before cutting, just to be on the safe side.

Depending on temps most will cut around day 52. :gj:
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
I cut at or around day 52. :) Congrats on your first clutch. Can't wait to see the pics!
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
When you cut does the egg leak out or should it be dry?
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
There will be a gooey fluid in the egg. when you cut the egg try to cut where there are no major veins and only cut a 'V' shape so that the flap can be put back down over the fluid to keep it from being contaminated. :gj:
Oh and post pics afterwards too. :gj:
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
i took mine in a dark room and candled to check where the main veins are and then i cut on 52. good luck and keep us posted.
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
I've got a clutch I'm cutting this Sunday (Day 52), with or without pips. :)
Re: On day 53 of my first ever clutch
Does cutting make it easier for them to hatch? Are there any risks?
