Keeping BP's outdoors?

So we're moving back to Texas, Austin to be exact (yays!). I have a much bigger back yard but a smaller house. Now while I would be able to fit everyone inside, it's going to end up being a little bit cramped. So I started to toy with the idea of setting up a shed to keep the snakes outside.

Does anyone else do this? What kind of heating/cooling do you have in there? Do you still use heating on the snakes' enclosures during the warm, summer months? Also remember I'm moving to Austin. So very warm and very humid.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I would think it could be done easily enough. I'd be concerned about heat buildup. If you have a temp gun, go around to some local places (Home Depot, etc.) at about 2PM some sunny afternoon and check the temps inside the sheds. Or are you building your own?

Temps listed for Austin for this coming Thursday are 99 for the high and 74 for the low. Anybody got any good ideas/advice?

I would make sure you have it well insulated and climate controled or you could have problems.

You can line the inside of the shed walls with reflectix and insulation.

For heat you can set up a thermostat to an oil filled radiator.

Without air conditioning, an exterior temp of 99 degrees will mean an interior temp of well over a hundred. The reflectix and the a/c can keep that temp around 82 or so.

I would also stay away from a metal shed. Building the shed in a shaded corner of the yard also helps.

i would recomend a swap cooler and also have some good ventelation also for summer time!

Being that central Texas can get up to 115... NO.

Either get an insulated shed that can be heated and cooled and is well protected from the weather(austin gets ALOT of huge hail) or just keep everyone inside.

Humidity also varies greatly. Some days it can be 20% and some days it can be near 100% without rain. I don't see how that would be healthy for them.

Florida, yes. Texas, hell no.

You better figure out a way to keep that shed cool during the summer (now).

Yes, it would climate controlled. I grew up in central Texas so I understand about the temperatures, wheather, etc. Anything set up would be fit for human habitation. I think we'll play around with some ideas. Good, insulated sheds are easy for me to get as well. I have some family connections.
