E2
Appears if the control settings are not properly stored in memory. Check all settings and correct if necessary.
I'd try re-inputting the settings and see if it works...
Re: Ranco Thermostat help
I've tried reprogramming the settings in Fahrenheit and Celsius, and as soon as I get to the last step where you finalize the settings it goes straight to the E2 again:( ...following those instructions as precise as possible..is there just no way around this, do rancos go defective a lot?
Re: Ranco Thermostat help
Here is what you need to check. Inside there is a small "Lockout" switch on the back of the faceplate. If the previous owners locked it then it disables the keypad. Remove the four faceplate screws and look on the backside. it is about 2 inches from the bottom. Make sure it is in the "Unlocked" position. Then you should be able to re-program it... Hope this helps...
Re: Ranco Thermostat help
Also, make sure in the last step of the programming you are making sure it is set to "H1". That is the heater setting... If it is set to "C1" then the t-stat thinks it is running an air conditioner. So if the temp is set to 90 deg and the room temp is 80deg the t-stat thinks it is cool enough and will shut off till the room temp reaches 90 deg. At which time the t-stat will turn on what it thinks is an a/c but in reality will be a heater, and that is where it can get ugly...
