New Baby Ball Python

I have a couple questions. Whats the best bedding for it. I am currently using paper towels for it but I want something that gives more of an attractive atmosphere. What else could I use? Also I've only had it for a day but I havent seen her drink any water I have for her since I've got her. Is it normal for them not to drink for over a day?

Paper towels and newspaper are great substrates, but I understand wanting to make a naturalistic enclosure. Astroturf would be cheapest, since you don't have to replace it. Also, reptile carpet, aspen chips, or eco earth/coconut fiber are great. Make sure not to use cedar!! It's toxic to all reptiles.

Snakes get plenty of fluid from their prey, although many will still drink still water. Don't worry about your snake not eating.

I've only seen my BP drink water once since I've had her, as the above poster mentioned, right after a meal.

I use rack systems.....back half newspaper for consistent temp control, easier since aspen use can vary temp based on snake moving it, thinning it out etc etc....In the front of the tub I use newspaper covered with aspen, cuts the cost of aspen use and paper is easy to come by:) Good luck!

My snake has been drinking water lately but she also hasn't eaten for 3+ weeks so... :D Not that she drinks very much.

Another thing; as I mentioned breifly before, they get most of their liquid from their food. When they fast, they are prone to dehydration. Always very important to provide fresh, accessable water while they aren't eating. :gj:
