    What if i breed my 100% Het Albino Red Tailed Boas together. what are the odds I'd get Albino,Normal and 100%

    You'd get 1/4 litter albinos, 1/4 litter normals, and 1/2 litter hets. Since you can't tell the difference between the normals and the hets, all the normal appearing boas will be 66% Possible Hets.

    The only way to find out if a possible het is actually heterozygous for a particular recessive morph is to breed it to a gene carrier for that morph and produce visual homozygous snakes.

    This is called "proving out" a poss. het.

    I make no claims to its scientific precision, but it seems to help folks visualize the basics of how recessive genes work. Ball pythons are used in the illustrations and discussion, but the same principles apply to recessive traits in boas as well.
