blazing red belly???
I cherry picked a few 09's today for fun... a guy had 200 babies with him, I managed to get one with a brilliant orange red stomach and a few others with red stomachs (just not as red as that one) as well. I can't find anything about red stomached-babies, I just googled and searched my butt off. and this is not the the pinkness/redness that they get before shedding, it's blazing orange/red pigment and comes up the sides of the snake a bit. Do some hatchling BP's come out with bright red stomachs? I also chose them for their patterns and what not but the orange stomach thing had me wowed. I am going to assume for now that it is something that some babies are born with, and then it fades in a shed or two? I have not heard of it before, and my main thing is semi-aquatic species! I have cherry picked through baby balls before and this is the first time I've come across it. Can someone fill me in? I will post a picture within the hour. Whether it's going to fade or not... it's still wicked cool!!!
I was not even aware that ball pythons had red pigmentation!!! You never see any red bp's!

Re: blazing red belly???
I saw something elsewhere about this. I think it was surmised that it's either a shipping bag rub-off(think wet bag with some pigment), or a type of disinfect stuff they dip them in?
I've had a female go into shed that got a brilliant red belly, even took pics to show it off, I'd have to dig the pics out.
If it stays through a couple sheds, I'd get excited.

Re: blazing red belly???
I have heard of "orange bellies" which are apparently a variation of YB. I can't remember if I've ever seen a pic of one, so I'm not sure how brightly colored the bellies are.
I also saw one classified this year for a CH that had a bright red/orange belly.
Another possibility other than the pre-shed color is some sort of burn or scale rot. I get the impression from your other posts that even though you aren't much of a BP person, you have enough experience with snakes in general to recognize something like that, so I'm mainly mentioning it for any one else that might read this thread trying to figure out what is wrong with their BP.
We want pics!

Re: blazing red belly???
Some hatchlings tend to be orangy at first, which eventually turns to be brown or golden brown as they age. But Im not pretty sure about reddish babies. Pictures are really needed for this one. :) Anyway, there's nothing wrong dinking around w/ some normals, specially if they are females and have something odd about them.

Re: blazing red belly???
The guy said that he got these 200 babies from ben seigel reptiles... so, maybe! IDK the orange bellies you are referring to but maybe this is what you saw a picture of the red stomach is on its way guys just give me some time to upload it!!! I could only take 6 pics without my memory card so I only have one picture for now. I swear, the snake looks like it has soaked in red koolaid for days on end (maybe it has?!?!?)

It wouldn't be the first time a snake came out of a bag exclaiming "OH YEAH!!"
There actually was a time when people did that! The old Kool Aid morph;)
We demand pics! :)

Re: blazing red belly???
Ben's Orangebellys don't have bright red/orange bellies. They are a brighter more orangey yellowbelly, with actual white "bellies", with the color along the sides like a yellowbelly. I have one.
The bright red underneath usually disappears from every case I've heard about.
