    How should eggs smell?
I had my first clutch of eggs today!! This is my second year of trying to breed, and the first year I got nothin.' But this year the female that I bred to my male cinny gave me three eggs! Yeah!! I candled them tonight and all seem fertile (veins & pink color). But they smell...how should I put this...kind of bad? I checked Branch (the female) on Tuesday afternoon so the eggs can't have been in with her for more than two days. Like I said, they *look* good, they just don't *smell* good. As a first-timer, tho, I don't know what they *should* smell like. So, all you veterans, how do BP eggs usually smell?

They shouldn't smell like much of anything...

If they smell BAD they are more than likely bad.

    Candle them and find out.

Like I said, when I candled them I saw pink color and veins, so...now I really don't know! Guess I'll leave them be and see what happens.

The egg box that they incubate in has a slight "musty" smell to it, for me while they incubate. Once they are cut or pip, THAT's when they stink for me!
