500 is the minimum. And if its a healthy fast they will not lose much weight. My 700 gram male is on 2.5 months no food and has lost 25 grams total. Me personally wont breed males unless their 800 grams.

My Yellowbelly is just over 400g and he has locked up a few times with one of my normals. :gj:

They don't always go so early, most like to wait til they are bigger, but some are just ready to go. I'm not worried about this one, because he is my garbage disposal.

I dont use males until they are around 900g.

Just my personal preference though, alot of breeders seem to use em much smaller.

I haven't had males fast during breeding. In fact my males seem to eat better when they are breeding. I tried a 300 gram male this year that didn't go and also a 500 gram male that wouldn't go. It depends on the individual snake.

Afew of mine have fasted while breeding, that is the only reason I prefer them a little bigger.

I have heard of some males that will go at around 350 grams. I like to wait until mine are around 500 grams to try them, but most will normally go at around 700 - 800 grams.
