    Got something on my mind
Hey all, its been a while since I have been here on BP.net, I have been caught up with other things, hobbies and work and so on.

But the reason why I stopped in today is because I have got something on my mind, and please, I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but the issue at hand is...

Seems a lot of people have video cameras. Some of those people also have snakes so its only natural to make videos of your snakes, to show off your collection, but I have noticed a trend and thats feeding videos.

Am I the only one that finds this unnecessary? Even snakebytes tv has a feeding session in I think almost every video. I personaly find this depressing. It almost seams as if some people, I am not saying Brian at snakebyts tv does this, I am talking about just your "average joe" with a snake and a video camera makes vids of their snakes feeding for entertainment. If people wanted to make feeding videos, they should demonstrate safe feeding, how to thaw rodents or what not, not make a 5 minute video of a snake dispatching its meal and swallowing it.

Snakes have got too eat, no doubt about that, but why stick a camera in its face while its doing so just to show to the world? Making a video of your snakes, I think is a good idea, use the tool to your advantage, why not, if you have a piebald, make a video of a piebald pointing out what makes a pied a pied, not a video of a snake stuffing its face.

I think feeding vids have no value what so ever, unless of course you can make it a learning experience. Maybe add a dialog or narrative of whats going on and why. Not a video where you toss a live rat in and let the snake do its thing "because that is what happens in nature"

Sorry for the rant everyone, I hope I did not offend anyone or break the TOS here. I just had something on my mind for a while and wanted to talk about it. If the mods thinks this needs locked or deleted, I understand. But I really am not trying to start anything.

    Thanks for reading

i agree with you,i was going to piece together a video,of just some of the more aggresive/hard hittin strikes(had one the blood python was faceing one corner dropped a rat weanling in the other corner, and it didnt even sit the ground)but i never got around to it,as it seems pointless, and i for one, have not takin feeding pics in over a year, and refuse to do so now,we all have snakes, and they all eat,why do we feel the need to take the pics and post them??

Unfortunately yes, some people film feeding time for entertainment. I had videos up once of my snakes feeding but it was educational. I am a member of youtube and I have also noticed a rise in feeding videos. I watch them to assess any issues with feeding or overall husbandry.

I feel that it would be selfish of us to not let people who love snakes not see them eat because they can't get one. ALMOST all my feeding videos on youtube are F/T. But I love watching snakes eat! That's just it. Before I was allowed snakes, that's all I did.
