Cleaning Repti-Carpet

How do you clean repti-carpets? what kind of antibacterial do you use?

I used it a long time ago and got rid of it after a couple months.
What i used to do is mix up a 10% bleach solution in a bucket and get one of those carpet scrubbers and go to town on it.
After that i would use a hose to get all of the bleach solution off and let it dry.

i don't consider it a lot of work, it's a 10 - 15 minute job which is done every week (or even less),


unless you don't have seventy snakes all on carpets...


but i just have 2, so it's not really a hassle.

cleaning them is probably the biggest reason that nobody uses them on here. that and they dont hold humidity like the other substrates. if you want somthing easy to clean and looks nice, switch to aspen or paper towels.

Get rid of them. Sorry to be so blunt, but they are useless. Cleaning them constantly doesn't get rid of all the bacteria they harbor over time.

Better to use paper or aspen for substrate. :) I used to use those carpets for a number of animals...but was told to stop by my vet after one of my lizards got sick. Paper and aspen are nice looking, cheap, and easy to replace.

I second the bleach solution. But you gotta make sure you rinse it really well so there's no bleach left, and then you have to give it time to dry.

Trash cans do wonders I hear.

But if you want it to be truly clean, bleach is the only way to go. I'd think that bacterial growth would eventually continue though.

i used to throw them in the laundry on hot setting and run them thru the dryer...i no longer use it tho...its a pain if u ask me

Throw it out and get some news paper.
