    Hopping a ride to work
A co-worker comes up to me last week during lunch, says he needs me to do him a favor: He went to open the door to one of the work vans and felt something "squishy and wet" behind the door handle. He couldn't figure out what it was. "Could you please go look at it and see if you can get it out?"

Sigh. So I go down and check out this door handle, and see a striped eye looking out at me. I pull out the handle and see this little guy tucked within the plastic shape. I nudged the frog out with a finger, and it jumped onto the side doors. After a couple of quick camera phone shots - it's all I had - I gave the tiny frog another gentle shove so it would hop on out to the grass behind the parking lot, and it disappeared in the greenery.

I don't know my frogs too well, so any ID help is appreciated. It was maybe 3 inches long, brownish or golden color, dark stripe down its flanks. Very agile. It's been raining a lot here in South Florida so who knows where it originated, especially since that van has been getting around a lot for the past couple of weeks. It could have come from any of the marinas between Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

Why that's a Cute Frog. Frogitus cutiness.

No, I don't know what kind, but it's darned cute! I'm sure it's grateful to not get squished.

That was one of my favorite parts of living in South Florida. Lots of reptiles and amphibians around always!

There are 32 species of frog in FL

Yeah, at least this guy came to get me instead of just killing it or something. (He's actually pretty aware of animals and the environment, so I don't think he would've killed it.)

Thanks. The one that keeps cropping up as a possible ID is the green frog (or bronze frog). Maybe it was a subspecies or an immature one.

Ooooh...I saw about 10 of those in the pool of a house while house hunting last weekend. They are awfully cute!
