    Dustin McKay
    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a Dustin McKay out of New York. I am looking to buy a snake from him on kingsnake, but he said he doesn't have paypal so it will have to be cheque or money order. Any feedback would be great.

    Thank you

Check or money order usually means there's a scam going on. I don't remember anyone by that name in new york, but I would be highly wary unless you can get some good folks to vouch for him.

I say: take your time. There are gonna be plenty of deals on kingsnake.com.
If it is a scam, I'd hate to see you get scammed.
Most of my snakes have come off of kingsnake.com. I did get shafted once by a breeder sending me a sick snake, which later died. He said one of his employees pulled the wrong tub. BLAH, I'm not going to ruin my day writing about that situation.
All other transactions on kingsnake.com have been a pleasure.
The only way I'd send a check or money order is if the guy was a well known breeder, etc.. I've sent a check on 2 occasions to reputable folks and the experience was great.
Be careful and take your time!

    ***Update***

Thanks for the responses/advice. I called him back and told him I couldn't do a cheque, he said he wouldn't have his paypal setup for a few weeks because of a business transition, but he offered to hold the snake for me. So, so far so good. I will update either way. Seems like a nice guy so far :).

the Hognose i just purchased, was paid for with a money order. not all people like doing business via Paypal. i myself don't mind, but others have said they've gotten burned on paypal. granted i haven't received the snake yet, but he is supposed to arrive on wednesday. Jay Fischer came recommended to me so i guess i'll see if it pans out.

Under no circumstances can I recommend doing business with Dustin McKay from Moravia, NY. See the Board of Inquiry area on FaunaClassifieds.com for the discussion about this individual.

People that have paid for snakes (including myself) are having difficulty getting their animals. Dustin has not responded to emails for the last month and seldom returns phone calls. Complaints have been filed with Law Enforcement as well as with the United States Post Office for mail fraud (payment was made via USPS).

His latest excuse (May 2nd, 2010) for not shipping one of the snakes (not mine) is that it is snowing in his area.
