    retic or balls?
i had narrowed down my choice to a 09 dark lavander albino retic. or a very large pretty pastel ball or several smaller even more impressive jungle pastel balls. at first i was "retic!" all the way but then i decided the balls are nice too and i could breed one to my female and female spider. so i was trying to choose when my wife walks up and flips out cuz she refuses to live with a retic(even though we already have). even if it is a baby. she was so mad about the idea she also refused the ballsas well saying she would rather have another sulcata. so i ended up going home empty handed. What do you think? should i get the retic and feed my wife to it someday, or get the pastel balls, or find her another sulcata?

i chose this section to post in because i figured you would be retic bias, as i am;)

If it came down to marriage or snakes, I would choose marriage.

I did that once and the marriage ended anyway.

Get the retic. She either loves you or she doesn't. The snake may bite you but it won't stab you in the back.

I rarely suggest anyone get a retic- marriage or not, are you SURE you can handle one. I know I can't, but obviously some people can :)

Sounds like the pastels would be cool to have, too.

ON a side note, can I see your enclosures for the turtles? Just curious because they get big, and are sooo fascinating!

my animals are like my children. if it came down to the woman or the snakes, all i could say is, "do you need help packing?".

as for which to get, if the retic is what you're after, go retic. if you're wanting to breed balls, go that route. if you're focussing on only your animals, and have room and time and budget, get them all :D

I DO understand where ALOT of you guys are coming from. I LOVE Retics specialy the one in question. But as someone said before you HAVE to know what you are getting into. Also for my :twocents: and that is all it is..... joking or not about feeding the wife I WOULD be carefull with that. There was a women around my area that was killed by her retic and she handled and been around snakes for a GOOD WHILE.There was some disagrement as if the husband was involed in ANY of it. Just saying GOD forbid anything would happen someone could say........well I heard him say this...... ect. Good luck on your choices. And if you are looking for an answer from me..... EITHER..... they are both beautiful. Sorry so winded. Ray

Get a big fat life insurance policy on the wife! LOL JUST JOKING!!!
I can relate with your wife about the retic, although I am a fan of the giant snakes. I have several boas and they can crap a pile if you know what I mean. I couldn't imagine cleaning up after a 20 foot retic craps! I guess you use a shovel!!! Retics also can be expensive to feed and house. I also would imagine they are hard to handle when the get 12 ft or longer.
Take your time! Maybe look into the dwarf or super dwarf retics.
