    Any Substitutes for Equine Fresh?
The one and only feed store in my area that sells equine fresh has stopped selling and now I am looking for an alternative. So far I have tried pine and now am trying aspen, to be honest, I am not crazy about neither, since both of them last for about 3-4 days, after that it starts to smell.

Anyways, I was hoping if there are any other substrates out there that work just as good as equine fresh?

Pellets? Yes, there are others, you might have to do some calling around for them.

    Equine Fresh (http://www.planetwiseproducts.com)
    Woody Pet (http://woodypet.com/horse.html)
    Equine Pine (http://www.equinepine.com/)
    Eagle Valley ABM (http://eaglevalleyabm.com/)

Thankyou Connie! They did have Equine Pine there as well, but stopped selling that as well. I will definitely make some calls and hunt for the others!

PS: I wonder if anyone actually uses this stuff for horses. :P

A suggestion... I don't know where you get it currently. But if you don't go to a local tack/feed (horse/livestock) store (not to be confused with a pet store that has horse stuff too), go there I bet its alot cheaper.

Are you only looking for pellets? Or "shavings" as well?
Tack/feed stores will have alot of options for you.
Let me know if you need places in your area I can get you a list.

And PS I do use ABM for horses ;)

I do go to a local tack/feed store, we just call them feed stores for short.;) I live in Brooksville, Fl (aka horse country!) so naturally there are a ton of feed stores around.

Only pellets. I'll definitely have a look around for other brands.

    Thanks!

Do you have a tractor supply nearby (or at reasonable distance) where you could go to load up for 6 months (like I do )

They have equine fresh or equine pine there.

Yeah, they stopped selling it there too months ago, and have replaced it with this kind of horse bedding that is extremely dusty.

If you wet down the pellets very slightly, it saves a TON of dust. Thats what I have to do with the horses. Just take a spray bottle to it and mist over it daily.

Can't they order it for you, I know my TSK can place orders if I need something specific?

Actually I didn't ask, the workers there aren't the nicest:colbert:, but I'll try that if I can't find any replacements.
