    keeping hatchlings together VS seperate
    Just curious..

I notice a lot of people are keeping hatchlings together in the same tub until they have their first shed. Why do you do this? why wouldn't you seperate them as soon as they are out of the egg and the umbillical cord is gone?

    thanks,

I feel that it helps them shed out. As soon as they are all done, I separate them into individual tubs.

I have noticed breeders doing the same. What size tubs are they using when doing this?

    I use my 6qts.

Part of it is a space issue, plus they seem to shed out together that way.

It is more convenient also for record keeping.

That way you can remember who came out of what clutch.

Never has been a problem, and all of them for the most part eat after first shed.

If they have any health issues (aka your umbilical cord issue), they would be seperate.

Yep I do that too. And once they shed they get resexed, and seperated. :D

In most cases I start my BP on rats, and if after 2 to 3 feedings they still refuse rats I offer mice.

Great thanks, I only breed rats now so I might have to go buy some mice if they wont accept the rats!
