Can anyone explain to me the scientific reasoning behind the changes in taxonomy in Bufo and Rana recently. Last I checked A bunch of North American toads were switched from Bufo spp. to Anaxyrus spp. and several former Rana spp. are now Lithobates spp. Who has been doing recent work on this and what were the reasons for the change?
Things changed I'm aware of are:
    Woodhouse's toad
    Bull Frog
    Wyoming Toad
    Great Plains Toad
    Wood Frog
    Northern Leopard Frog

I'm sure there are more, but they're the only ones I'm currently working with.
