Thanks everyone! this site is great
don't know if this is where this goes, but I just needed to thank everyone. My first bp is now in top shape. I bought him from Petco about 3 months ago (my first mistake- or maybe rescue?) and he had been sickly ever since.

the advice and suggestions I received here blew away the vets I had been to about him and I am very grateful. Weight is up, sheds are healthy, scale rot is gone, and he seems very happy.

    Thank you all again!

Glad to hear things are looking better!! Is there another thread that describes the problems you had?? Just curious.

Great news! Always love to hear positive stories like this one. Always ask away! It's the very best way to learn.

    Chris1974:

I'm sure there are, but I was so stressed out during the problems that I didn't take the time to look through the threads and just outright asked.

I had to tweak the tank (different substrate, change how I kept humidity up, etc.). I also think he was in kind of rough shape when I bought him from Petco- I admittedly didn't do the proper research about how to select a healthy snake and to buy them from breeders.

For the rots I was suggested to soak him in betadine/water solution. This cleared it right up. Two vets that supposedly were exotic experts couldn't help, but the suggestions here made a world of difference.

The rot was from humidity being too high. I was originally told to spray the tank with a mister and when I bought him I was suggested to buy reptibark. This forum set me straight about how to maintain humidity and to use aspen bedding.
