Any bike commuters?
Just seeing if anyone rides their bike to work, I've been toying with the idea of doing that this summer/fall, but it's 13.2 miles one way.... lol :confuse:

Re: Any bike commuters?
I'd like to, just have to get a new roadbike. If you get the right bike, and you're in good shape 13.2 miles is nothing. Is it flat, or bumpy?

Re: Any bike commuters?
Well, there goes good shape and a right bike, since I've got neither lol. But, its mostly flat, country road. I'm pretty sure it'd take me an hour for that distance.

Re: Any bike commuters?
I ride my bike quite a bit now. I take the bus whenever I can, but if it is too early in the morning or too late at night and I have to ride part of the way to work or home, it usually ends up being about 5 miles. On a couple occasions I have had to bike the whole way for a total of about 10 miles each way through nice hilly Michigan :)
Over the past month I have averaged about 50 miles a week to/from work.

Re: Any bike commuters?
maybe cheat a little to start, put the bike on a rack, and drive it to about 3 miles from work, park the car,and ride the bike in,then back to your car,and gradually increase the distance until your going the whole way?

Re: Any bike commuters?
I ride alot, pretty much everywhere, and i'm not gonna lie.. that seems like a pretty far distance to ride to work and back everyday. I don't know what you do for a living, or if you have access to showers at work or stuff like that, but you can build up a pretty nice sweat on a ride like that (especially if you're running late). I guess it depends on how much riding you're already used to, and definitly on the bike. I personally would never ride one of those 10 speed bikes, I don't want to be that guy who people have to slow down to pass or almost hit while driving down the highway. Which also brings up the issue of riding terrain. I love my mountain bike and stay on trails whenever possible.

Re: Any bike commuters?
Just had to put a pic of my bike up. The pic was takin at my uncle's shop when I had it for sell. It is an 03 kawasaki Meanstreak. Sometimes ride it to work. Mostly ride on my days off. It is a blast to ride, very fast, and good throttle response!
