yes numerous times.. they are notorious for jumping. That's why its recommended to have a cover on the tank.

Re: Bettas
I had a red one named Frankie and he used to Jump out all the time!! Even with the little plastic lid on the little betta tank. :O (it obviously wasn't heavy enough). I finally just bought a 10 gallon with a lid to put him in.

Re: Bettas
I suspect my Beta's disappearance was a combination of jumping fish and hungry kitty.

Re: Bettas
Yes... they do it a lot. You need a covered tank, or a jar or bowl that he cannot jump out of.

Re: Bettas
or put something in the tank that will distract the betta...like a plant or something....we have one tank that has no lid but has a bunch of fake (silk) plants and he has not jumped out at all... he is also in a 10 gallon tank so that I think just going back and forth from one end to the other keeps him busy enough.

Re: Bettas
Yes. If I didn't have lids on my collection of bettas, I would come in some mornings to find fish tortilla chips on the floor. That's if the dog didn't snap them up first.
I learned pretty fast, lid them suicidal buggers!
