New tub with fresh eco earth
I just switched from a tank to a tub and used some freshly mixed eco earth. The humidity is around 90%. I have been opening part of it for a little while and I remove all the condensation on the sides and top. I imagine it'll take about a week to get down to normal levels. Would this be ok for the snake?

Why don't you just use a different substrate? Eco-earth will always help to bring the humidity up, which as you can see is not an issue in tubs.

I had the same problem...try drying the bedding in the sun or just buy aspen...

i just bought some pine substrate today as they didnt have any aspen, its cut pretty finely so im guessing this will work too. Is that right or no, cause i already know that people shy away for using ceder. ???

Pine is toxic. Don't use it.

Seriously don't use pine or cedar! You'll mess your snake's respiratory system up.

Just use newspaper ( I prefer unprinted) or Aspen. Either of these should solve the humidity prob.

So can anyone answer the original question instead of telling me what I can or cannot do?

If you want to use the eco-earth just dry it out as much as you can. You could even bake it in the oven on the lowest heat setting for a while. But to be truthful, you will always have high humidity because of it and it could lead to an RI.

that's not true, it dries out and stays dry.

Would having a tub with around 90% humidity be harmful to the snake for roughly a week?
