    Need your input....
My female BP has been having a bit of a finicky month with eating. Last night was her feeding night and when I offered her the f/t rat on the tongs she would not strike at it - just kept sniffing it - so I just left it in her cage and within a few minutes I saw that she was eating it.

What causes them not to strike the prey but then still eat it??

Should I be concerned or just glad that she ate at all??

    Thanks for any help.

Some animals do that with F/T or PK food items. There is something in the movement of a live prey that triggers a strike. Even though many snakes that are fed on F/T or Pk will still strike.

    Nothing to worry about.

Mine have done that before.. I look at it as laziness haha.. Hungry but too lazy to strike. They struck the next week, it's weird.

Up til now - she has always struck at the prey that is why I was concerned.

She did eat so I guess she is okay. She has just been worrying me lately - first I bought her slightly larger rats that she wanted nothing to do with - then I moved her back to the smaller rats she was used to and now this issue with striking - good lord!!!!
