RTB care??

I really want to get a red tailed boa. I know they get big( we have a sav that will get big too LOL). How much harder are they to care for them then balls( I'd ask corns but we all know they are easy lol).I think the ones at the store are columbia ones.

Well I had read the care sheets before. A care sheet can only say so much. I am hoping for people's opinions as this is a large long lived pet that requires alot of though put into . Just don't tell my DH that it could live well over 20 years as he said he doesn't want pets that can out live us, I'm not even 30 yet so I could live until it passes away;)

I have 10 BCI right now and 1 B.P.

I do not think they are any harder to take care of than the B.P.

One of the reasons I like my boas so much is because they are outgoing, when I open alot of the cages they crawl right up my arm and seem to really like being out of the cages.

Just make sure humidity and temperatures are good and there should be no problems. I use radiant heat panels in all my cages and aspen bedding but that is all preference.

If you have anything specific you would like to know I will try and answer it.

Yep, I agree with Rakk. I have a red tail boa as well and they are in fact very outgoing and lively. They are also generally very well tempered, so excellent if you plan to have/already have children. Being a bigger snake the feeders can be a bit costly if you have to buy straight from a pet store. A local breeder for your snakes food would be key if you live in a larger center. Just my two cents!

I've had my boa for just over a year now... It is fairly easy to take care of. The most difficult part is cleaning up the large specimens of fecal matter once every now and then. Jesus, they can drop some heavy loads.

My boa doesn't really climb on me when I open the cage, but he has a good temperament and has never bitten or been vicious. The only time I've ever gotten hissed at was when he was in shed and it was like 12 hours before he shed his skin. Boas love feeding though, the feeding responses are like clockwork for me.
