    Scale Rot
I tend to get a little overprotected and paranoid, but i just wanna double check everything...

If you guys check my previous threads, my idiotic ass, thought i couldn't get the humidity level right, not realizing how to work the acurite properly, so my ball, was in there for a while with a super high humidity....

So now that i come back from vacation,

I see a little brown spot on his belly...:tears:

    Is it scale rot?

He does look like he's about to start shedding,

If it is scale rot, how can i cure it?

First signs of scale rot are brown spots. however this doesnt mean thats exactly what this is. could be a dirty area/shed starting. gets some pictures up here if u can.

Ok my camera broke, so i had to use my camera phone, its a bit blurry, its not all over his belly, as i seen some pics, it looks nothing like that, its just one spot, it looks dry too,

the humidity right now is 65%
Temperature on one side is 85
    90 in his hide

I see no poop, around, I am using aspen bedding

    Any advice?

well, a lil blurry is a understatement by far.

anyways, first thing i would do its wash the snake if it hasn't eaten recently. make sure its not filth.

second would be to remove the aspen and put paper towel as the substrate until it sheds. just to be safe then sorry. and if its gone with a shed then your laughing. if not then it may be time to get looking into it. most scale defects should be gone with a good shed so if there not it usually means something is up.

ok so, I washed her belly and it looked a little cleaner, but it looks like dry skin, her belly is getting really pink, which confuses me a lot now...only because, i thought she was in the middle of a shedding cycle...before it was lightly pink, and her eyes were cloudy yesterday, now they are clear, and now her belly is real pink...also around the brown area, a little of the skin was falling off, less than a scale size...any ideas anyone?

I'm contemplating also about the humidity,

    Its currently at 55%

    I know I have a few choices

Raise the humidity for a better shed

Lower the humidity to prevent the scale rot if it's actually occurring...

Or should i ignore the brown spot unless it gets worse...which at the moment it definitely isn't

raise humidity up to 70%-80% for a better shed.
