Science Project

let me explain my situation. i need some answers and google won't help. My science teacher gave me a project for a final grade. if i do good on my project my mom said i could go to the Berks show in August. The project was to use the scientific method and answer my own question. My question was: wich type of snake can eat the most compaired to it's body weight. I put up four snakes as examples. Carpet python, cornsnake, Ball Python and columbian rainbow boa. I think the corn snake will eat the most judging by her apitite.

I need "research" sources. even though I know all this stuff:D

Since I don't think you're going to find any published resources on what you're looking for I would ask the teacher if acceptable resources would be breeders of each respective species. If yes, then I would post a thread here asking for information on the snake's weight, plus the frequency and size rodents consumed. Hopefully you'll find someone to provide information for you.

I see you have 3.4 ball pythons already, see if you can use your own records (weight and feeding) as a resource.

I would consider maybe researching Retics.

They can eat prey up to 5 (maybe its 4 cant remember LOL) times their body size.

What about the smaller, more hyper, species like ribbon snakes or racers?

All that energy has to be gotten from somewhere. :)

the first number is male the second is female.
4.2 means 4 males, 2 females.

You'd also have to figure how many they CAN eat, vs how much they are given to eat. Most responsible owners aren't going to feed a snake as much as it will eat.

I believe part of the definition of "scientific method" is that you experiment. As Theresa (wolfyhound) pointed out, experimenting on this question is a questionable undertaking. Generally it would be a bad idea to feed a snake as much as it can eat, especially since to figure out where that line is, you would have to cross it and observe negative results of the snake eating too much.

Is it possible you could alter your question somewhat? I think you may do better if you find a question that you can test a little more easily.
