albino leo's can't see well??

Ok so I have a bell albino that I've had for about 2 weeks. It's finally eating, but....it seems like she can't see very well. It's weird. You have to take all the legs off the crickets, not just the hopping legs and put it right in front of it so it can smell it, and even then she misses it sometimes when she tries to grab it. If the crickets walk out in front of her it's like she can't see them move.

Anyone ever experience this with albino's? My b/f thinks she can't see well because she is albino. Any thoughts??? Thanks

How big are the crickets? Are you dusting your feeders with calcium, vitamins and have a calcium dish in the tank with her? Albino's I beleive are light sensitive (if you have a bright light on when he/she is trying to eat that might be bothering him/her). Also, some are just poor hunters. Some of mine I feed with 10" feeding tongs (just grab the cricket by the butt and put it in front of them). Some of mine won't eat crickets if I do that though, they will only eat them if they are running around. Or your leo could really have bad eyesight (hopefully it is not this).

They are the smallest crickets i can get at the pet store. 3 weekers I think is what they are. Yes I am putting calcium powder on them. I actually have to hold the other leo that's in with him/her to give him/her a chance to eat. I make sure they both get the same amount but I have to hold the other one to let the albino get a fair chance. The other one is a freaking garbage disposal!! He/she ate 7 crickets the other night and i honestly believe given the chance would've pounded some more!! I did have the overhead light on in the room at first but when I noticed that he/she wasn't eating well I turned it off to see if that would help. Seemed to a little.

my tremper albino doesn't seem to have any problems seeing and loves hunting down crickets. However i have noticed him miss a mealworm occasionally but i think he's anticipating it running away. Lol. Hopefully yours doesn't have any vision problems :please:

Before my Bell Albino passed on, she always kept her eyes half shut and never ate. I don't think her eating was due to her not being able to see, but I do think that it's possible that their eyes are more sensitive to light.

i know nothing leos,,excpet the look freaking awesome,so please disregaurd this if i am wrong,as i more then likely am.but i get asked questions regularly involving the eyesight of albino snakes,now i havent actually done research on albinoism in animals,so i relise i am putting the cart before the horse,but has anybody here noticed any animals,that due to the albino gene,suffer any vision or really any sensory issues?,

Albinos are indeed light sensitive especially for the first 3 months or so of live. You can try feeding her when the room is dark, or cover her tank / bin with a towel... I have a few albinos that will stay in their hiding spot and wait for crickets or worms to go near the entrance and will eat them then, that way they dont go into the light.
