    Howdy From Texas!
Hello everyone.. names Des.. I just recently started to get involved with snakes now. Just three weeks ago my husbands co-workers found a Texas Rat Snake.. my husband brought it home, we attempted to hand tame him with no success at all, he was still a baby although and LOVED to bite. He ate great and we ended up deciding he was better off in the wild where he came from. After a final feeding we released him in a wooded area behind our house away from humans and other animals. Just last wednesday (the 13th) I bought another snake.. this time I went for something that i've been reading is more docile and rarely if ever will strike. I purchased a baby ball python (still have to get him sexed by a professional).. her/his name is Mennon and so far so good. Did our first feeding on him/her last night with great success. We are extremely excited about learning more about this gorgeous creature. We are big animal lovers.. and have had a TON of different pets before. We currently own 4 dogs (1 Boston Terrier, 1 Pit Bull, 1 Pit Bull/Lab Mix, and 1 Pit Bull/Jack Russell Mix), 2 African Clawed Frogs, A Tank Full of Fish, 2 Fiddler Crabs, and now the 1 Ball Python.

Welcome to the world of snakes! This is a wonderful site and community, if you ever have any questions everyone here is always more than willing to help out.

Make sure to hit up some ball python care sheets online, always a good place to start with any species you are new to :D

P.S., pictures of the snake are 'mandatory'(or at least I wish that was in the TOS :D)

I'm up in North Texas (Fort Worth/Keller/Watauga/Haslet) region.. about 20 minutes from Denton. (Was just in OK this weekend hitting up the casino there lol).

As by request here's Mennon (just a few I got the other day, had some better ones but I accidentally deleted them before saving them >.<)

Welcome to the site Des. Tons o fun here. That's a real sweet looking baby you got there. Sounds like you've done some homework. I find the key to keeping BP's is all about the humidity. Once you have a good set-up they are about the easiest animals in the world to keep happy.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.
