Dissadvantages to using light diffuser?
Any negative reasons why i should not use a light diffuser to elevate my eggs from the substrate?
Re: Dissadvantages to using light diffuser?
If there are any...they have not affected me...I use diffusers and have had no problems.

I've used it for the past three years the olny thing to watch for is when the babys come out of the egg. They have a little left over I've had one catch it on the grate and simi tear it off.. Once they hatch I take them out with in minutes of emerging

Yes this is the only thing that would concern me.
My solution soon as the first hatchling pips out or soon as I cut the eggs I remove everything and replace the substrate and eggcrate by damp paper towel, to prevent this type of thing.

This is when you set up your eggs this way.

It is also referred to as substrate less incubation.
The white part below the eggs is called light diffuser or eggcrate.
This takes the headache away when it comes to mixing your substrate, you do not have to worry about your eggs getting too wet since your eggs are not in direct contact with the substate (in that case vermiculite)

Thanks for everyone's input. I think I will give the light diffuser a try.
Re: Dissadvantages to using light diffuser?
if you use a diffuser does the substarte stay the same? wetter? drier?

This was my concern as well. I usually put the eggs on wet paper towels a couple days before they hatch or (when I can't wait) right after I cut the egg at day 56-57. I have had no problems at all using the defusior.
I think it helps newbies who tend to make the mix way too wet and prevents them from killing their eggs.....
