Regurgitation
So, I just picked up a new snake today and one the way home she regurgitated up a bloody mouse. Is this something to be concerned about? Is she okay? Should I feed her again or wait till next week?
Thanks

Probably nothing to worry about. My guess would be she was recently fed and the change in environment just upset her a bit. Snakes will regurgitate food if under stress. I would give her a 5-7 days to settle in and try feeding her again.

not something that normal, but doesnt speak well of whoever sent it. wait a week and then try a feeding.

Re: Regurgitation
Guys, not hardly. Regurgitation is very difficult on a snake's digestive system. The acid causes a good bit of damage and they need time to heal before you feed them again.
They need at least 2 weeks rest time after a regurge. This is important or it can set up a series of regurges which will make the snake very sick or can cause death.
After the 2 weeks rest, feed a smaller than normal prey item. Do not handle for at least 72 hours, or just wait until the snake has consecutively fed 3-4 times before even attempting handling. This is to minimize stress on the snake and minimize the risk of regurging again.

Okay, thanks for the info. I'll wait a few weeks before I feed her. I imagine the regurgitation was just due to stress... the guy I had got her from just fed her the day before and when I picked it up he popped her to prove the sex.... between that and the car ride it seems like stress may have been the culprit.
Thanks

Re: Regurgitation
Yea thats no good on the breeders part, he really shouldn't have fed the snake if it was due to be picked up the next day. I wouldn't feed a week before shipping or having a snake picked up by a customer.
