Stain/sealer???

I am planning on staining/sealing my homemade wooden rack tomorrow and was wondering how long is safe to put my snakes back into the rack?? Any ideas?? Is it ok to put them back in after it dries or do I have to wait a certain amount of time to let the fumes fade?? Also I am going to be installing 3" flexwatt on thursday and was wondering if I have to use the foil tape to secur it to the rack or can I just use flat thumb tacks to secure it??

I would use the aluminum tape.I don't think it is a good idea to put holes in your FW.That is just my opinion.

thumbtacks or staples would work fine.

Hi,

The whole point of the plastic on flexwatt is to prevent water reaching the electical parts - sticking pins in it is just plain daft.

Assuming the OP knows enough not to stick an electical conductor into the live part of the flexwatt he will still have broken the seal which would allow water to seep between the plastic layers in the event of any spills.

Use the aluminium tape to hold the edges down.

I have never seen it - but if it is good quality tape designed for high temperature environments then it should be ok.

Hopefully someone with direct experience of it can answer your question.

But as an aside make sure you insulate the cut ends of the flexwatt with electrical tape before atattching the foil tape as it is conductive in all likelyhood.

I believe it is high temp tape it looks just like the foil tape that is sold on websites and it is in the home/parts section so i think it would be ok but I will be sure to read the package before buying! Thanks! As for the electrical tape I knew about putting electrical tape over the connector ends but I didn't know about the cut end so thanks!!
