I am confused on this. Should I use one they can soak in or no?

Re: Water bowl size?
Yes. Unless they have a BooBoo, and it needs to be kept dry. Otherwise, they need to be able so soak. Most of them don't, but they will if there is something wrong. If it's too hot, or they have mites, some will soak. Some just like to soak, and it keeps them hydrated :)
Contrary to what some may think the water dish does not need to be big enough for your BP to soak in.

Re: Water bowl size?
I use 3 inch diameter bowls for my juvenile snakes. They don't need to soak. Soaking is usually an indication of mites.

Re: Water bowl size?
I use a bowl large enough for my snakes to soak if they would like. Most usually don't soak, but I have a het albino female who thinks she is a water snake. She does not have mites (which at first I thoght she did), she just likes the water.:P

Re: Water bowl size?
They say snakes don't need to soak, but when I see my 3000+ gm girl trying to cram herself into a 7in water dish, I will put a larger one in there for her to soak. No big deal for me to offer a larger bowl every once in awhile...

Re: Water bowl size?
I use 16oz deli cups (4" across) for all of my adults. They do NOT need to soak as long as the humidity is high enough. I use 8 oz deli cups (same size across but only half the height) with a 2 inch hole in the lid for my hatchlings and smaller subadults.

Re: Water bowl size?
I use a larger bowl - big enough for her to soak in if she ever wanted to, and about an inch and a half deep. It keeps the humidity just right in her new, bigger tank, which a small water dish doesn't.
