    Belly Rot/Burn?
I went to look at a BP for sale today and she looks great except for one thing on her belly that worries me. She is currently going through a rough shed so her belly is that obvious pinkish color. But one scale on her belly is a rusty color and there seems to be 'skid' marks the same color on her belly as well. I am not sure if this is something I should be worried about. I didn't get any real pictures but I drew what it looks like... Better then nothing.

What do you guys think it is? She is fed live so could it just be an injury? Should it go away after she sheds?

    Hi,

It certainly could be scale rot - but it could also be a stain from the substrate or the beginings of an infected burn. Without pictures there's no way to be certain though.

But to be honest if she is somewhere she is having a rough shed and possibly scale rot I would point it out to them but take my money somewhere else.

If it isn't something like staining and actually is a burn or scale rot then it could end up costing a lot of money at the vets to put right - and buying a snake with known problems is never the best of ideas.

Thanks. I've decided not to buy this girl although she was beautiful. She was not very well taken care of at all, and did point out the spot on her belly and the fact that she has no hides or belly heat.

Thanks for the info. It kind of looked more like a stain then rot, but I don't want to take any chances. I hope she finds a good home soon. Thanks again.
