Do I just wait till next year?
    Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie, both on this forum and to breeding BPs.
I cycled 2 of my snakes this year, but I didn't cool down until December, it was a bit late but I was told that was o.k.
Anyway the 2nd time I introduced them the male managed to remove one of the vents from the back of the viv (I really don't know how because I find it near impossible) and escaped. 2 months later I got him back, but he was a bit dehydrated and out of condition, so obviously I just made sure he got back in shape.
Anyway he is right as rain now, but I wanted to ask what I should do.
Just put the temps back up to normal and try again next year? Even I cooled down 2 months too late it is too late to try and introduce them again isn't it?
    So gutted :(
Also wondered if anyone has ever experienced females eating males? For some reason it terrifies me, you know they just look so little comparatively?

Any other advice is always always welcome.

Yes, breeding season is pretty much over. I would just wait until next season.

I'd just wait, and I've never heard of a female eating the male (I know it looks like they could sometimes!).

FWIW I remember seeing a thread a guy made on another forum, for some reason he had a boa and a ball python in the same cage. And the boa ate the BP, he had pictures of it in the boa, and pictures after he regurgitated it.

People breed ball pythons year around. Go for it! If they are ready the magic will happen.

Go ahead and plug them back together. If there is interest, you will have babies eventually.

Not to worry you about the female eating another male ball python, I have never heard of it happening. But i have a story regarding a boa. I worked in a vet clinic for 7 years. A guy brought in his boa that wasnt acting right. Not to mention the guys puff ader was missing. He swares they were not housed together, but I dont believe him. So we took a radiograph and the puff ader was in the boa, along with the rat the puff ader had recently ate. So how did the boa get out and get into the puff aders enclosure and back into his cage with you not knowing, was my question...? Cool pics that i will hold on to forever. You may have to enlarge these to see the image well. I can on my computer but not sure if you guys can. The second photo shows it very clear if enlarged.

There really is no "season" anymore really. Get your temps right and go for it. :)

I agree with Bill. I have a friend and myself who both have females that are just now developing folicles when our other females are due to lay eggs any day. My temps as well as his are back to normal and have been for over a month. Give it a go if the animals are healthy.. Have you checked your female for folicles?
