    My snake likes cold?
    Hi guys!
    how are you?

so for the past 2 days my snake has been acting a little bit weird.
I have 1 main hideout where it's usually between 82-87 degrees, which is the warm side, and the cold side is between 79-82. Now today was a cold day and the temperature in the cold side went a little bit down to 76-79 so from time to time I turned on the heat lamps (I have a heat pad in the warm side..) to raise the temperatures. What is weird is that even though it's a little bit cold my snake doesn't move :\ he stays in the cold side a the corner under a plant (he thinks it's like a hide place..

so my question is this.. What do you think is happening?

You pretty much are going to the get the same advice over and over. Get two hides. Make sure that each hide is identical. I like to make sure the hides are mirror images of eachother. Then make sure you have a proper temperature gradient. If you have that and your snake chooses to be on the cold side then that's where the snake wants to be. I will say that sometimes if I see my BP is on the cold side and she has just eaten or my ambient temps are a bit cold and think its just odd, I will check for urates or fecal matter again. Sometimes I find I missed some waste that needs to be cleaned. Sometimes she is just needing to cool down a bit. It might not hurt to clean the substrate under the hides just to make sure your snake is not making the choice based on something other than temp.

    thanks!
hmm I'll try to get two identical hides, I checkedall over the cage and urates is not the problem!
thank you again! and I'll see what my snake does :)
    I'll keep you updated

first off you should have 2 identical hides..one on the cold, one on hot.

Thats a HUGE range in temperature u are stating. My hot side deviates from 89-91. and my cold side always stays between 80-82. I hear temps under 75 are not good

    How are u controlling temps??

The warm side should be bumped up to abuot 90-95 degrees, and the cool side should be around 85.

He more then likely just wants to hide, and they are a nocturnal species, so you'll really only see him moving around at night. Get those temps up, he'll most likely have moved in the following days.

I control my temps with a theromstat

and well the problem with the temp was because of the temps in the house.. it's usually not like that
    usually it's 80-83 and 85-90..

Your hot side should be around 92*

This is exactly why you should have a temperature gradient, because they thermoregulate. Sometimes they are on the cool side and sometimes they are on the hot side. That is just how they work.

I would work on getting your temps more stable :)

The snake probably is taking favor of hiding over heat.
What does your snake look like in comparison to his hide? If theres nearly ANY airspace in between him and any 4 sides of the hide it's too big. He's going to the plants because he wants to be hidden and touched on all sides for security.

Boost those temps up, big time.
