infrared lights?

I just put a infrared light on my bp's cage, he seems more active with it then a normal light. my question is, since he sees in infrared will it make it harder for him to see other things in his cage?

As far as I know, ball pythons and other snakes don't actually "see" in infrared. They can sense heat, but infrared lights don't produce any real visible light rays. I use an infrared heat bulb for my ball and she doesn't seem to be bothered by it or have any trouble seeing :)

I've noticed he's alot more active since we put that light on his cage. What really suprised me is he's even getting ready to shed and he's still moving all over his cage. I initially got it for my new dumeril's i got today but decided to try it on my bp first i guess he likes it better then the other light i had on his cage.

well just to make sure...what are your temps? If this infrared bulb increased them then he could be uncomfortable and that's why he's moving around. Probably not but you could check to be sure. Either that or the infrared bulb actually made it more of the right temperature and he feels like being more active now

I personally run a 75w infrared 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Seems to be working out well.
