Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
Does anyone know if you can use this thermostat for more than one small rack? I noticed that there are three outlets on the Herpstat ND cord. I have one 3 tub Animal Plastics rack with flexwatt heating and just ordered a second rack (same model). The Herpstat ND is rated up to 600 Watts and I don't think that these racks use that much. Could I do this or should I just order another thermostat? Thanks.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
Yeah, if the rack is in the same room and thus has the same temperatures, you could plug the rack in there.
Monitor it closely though, as the different heating (although the same) might give some different readings.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
Thanks, The racks will be side by side. I thought it would be possible. I plan on keeping a very close eye on the temps.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
Sure as long as you are heating the same type of rack with the same type of heating source. For example if you have three 32qt racks with 3" belly tape on all three racks. On the other hand, you could not if you have different racks or different heating sources; for example, a 32 qt rack with 11" back heat and a 32qt rack with 3" belly heat.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
Thanks, Both of my Racks are from Animal Plastics and both are set up with Dual Side Radiant Heat. Shouldn't be a problem then.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
As long as all heating elements are exactlt the same. The example given was 3" flexxwatt but all the 3" flexwatts have to be the same lengths as well. I would put a thermometer in each of the racks to test that they are both being heated equally.
Re: Spyder Robotics Herpstat ND Question
I have also heard that different batches of flexwatt will run at different temperatures. I would monitor very closely at first.
