noticed something different
I had my leo's out tonight weighing them and I noticed on the male that his pre-anal pores had things protruding out of them(almost spike like). I'm not really sure if that's the correct way to say it. I have not seen this on him before. Just wondering if it has something to do with them breeding(male and female are together)
Also, not on this topic, just curious. In someone's signature in their posts when they list their animals and say have 1.1 ...... what does the 1.1 or 0.1 or 1.0 mean?
Re: noticed something different
Don't know the answer to your first question (sorry) but to your second question: 1.1.1: would be 1 male, 1 female, 1 unknown. So if you have a 1.1 you have 1 male and 1 female
male.female.unknown :gj:
Re: noticed something different
waxy pheromone-laden secretions.
The purpose of pores is to secrete things. Probably relating to sexual maturity and breeding interest.

Thanks, I thought that's what it was, but I figured I would ask before I assumed and made an idoit of myself! :)

Thanks, I figured it was probably related to breeding. They've been together since I got them and the female already laid 1 clutch of eggs on 4/13 that one turned out to be infertile and the other met it's demise thanks to my trying to incubate it.:( I now know better and I hope they give me some more eggs. I would love to see the babies they make since they are both mack snows and the female is super light with only spots. The male has slightly more color to him.
Re: noticed something different
If the female seems stressed by the male at all separate them for a bit, fatten her up, and then reintroduce them. The funny thing about leopards is that once they start laying, it's harder to get them to stop. I've also had great odds so far this year egg wise, with enigma het bell x mack snow breedings, the 4 eggs I've had hatch so far 2 have been snow enigmas. So here's to a good baby year! Now if only I had had similar odds with my ball pythons...
