Best Way To Keep Humidity Up?

Alright well i read the stickies and i found some stuff but i was wondering if anyone else had any tips on this or advice.

ok i am trying to keep my humidity up so i can get my husbandry just right. i spray my tank and the humidity gets up to 75% and then withinin an hour and a half or so its back down to 45%

here is some new info on my setup

ok its a 29 gal vivarium with a screen top. i use aspen as bedding and have hides (identical) on each side. my warm side is warmed up with a UTH which i have on a rheostat. The temp i have the heat pad at is 92. i use a temp gun to measure the temps. the cool side is right around 83 and that side has a heat light on it because my room is chilly around this time of year. i use a digital thing to read the humidity. i have paper over most of the top to try to keep the humidity in. but its not working. i was wondering if anyone had any tips as im trying to get this right on for my lil girl.

also bps dont see red light correct? cuz i need to have a nightlight on it too

Trust me pal I am in the same exact boat as you only on a 10 gal tank with a BP. I like you know all to well how the light will deplete the humidity at a rapid rate. Good news is they do make a "auto" humidity device that works like a thermostat does. You set the percentage of humidity you want and fill the bottle and it will dispense it through the cage when it is needed. I do not have one myself so I can't tell you how much they are. Hope that helps you out.

I would be interested in one of those. I end up spraying water in the tank every few hours or so. Can you send me info on that??

I had a similar problem but was informed of an inexpensive trick to use. Take aluminum foil and cover 3/4 of your screen cover. You can make cutouts for the heat lamps if needed. I have a 20 long tank that I keep my first Ball in and was never able to keep the humidity above 40-50 %. Since I put the aluminum foil on the screen, it stays around 60-65% with just a large water bowl. Also, I don't keep the red heat lamp on as much as it seemed to hamper my attempts at raising the humidity. The UTH keeps the temp around 78-85 degrees alone.

Forgot to mention that I used electrical tape to fasten the aluminum foil to the cover and keep it tight.

I followed the directions in that sticky, except for I added some paper toweling under the foil. That way when I need to upmy humidity for sheds, I can flip the screen over an spray the paper towels. its worked so far

You can also try repti bedding it holds in the moisture really well I hava a bag of it from the local pet store and moved to tubs as I have six snakes currently and it put the humidity maxed at 99% so in a tank it probably would do very well. It was recommended to me from the breeder I went to. Or you can try to cover 3/4 of the screen lid with a plastic lid from a tub or something to that nature. The repti bark isn't very expensive it was 25 bucks for a 24 quart bag. Now I have it and only used very little of it and have no use for it anymore because all I seemed to need in the tubs was paper towels.

The problem with that is that the paper towel will possibly grow mold and other nasties, and from the sounds of your description, you have no way to change it out for a new one. It would be much better to just use the foil on the screen lid. Then, when/if you need to up humidity, just toss a damp paper towel somewhere in the enclosure, and remove it when it is no longer necessary. A lot of people will put it under a hide, to make a temporary humid hide.

I made it so I can slip them out from under where the window is cut for the light. *forgot to mention that.
